About

Hello! I’m Lisa, the face behind Cuppa & Craft. I live in the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire, UK.

I’ve been crafting all my life, drawing, painting, clay modelling, jewellery making, dried flower art, and most recently I’ve come to love fibre arts. At the end of 2024 I was going through some of life’s struggles and dealing with loss, which led to stumbling across needle felting in quite an unconventional way. I was looking for some natural, plastic-free dog toys for my dogs and discovered felt toys. In my typical fashion I thought “I could make that”. I began researching how to felt, and being that it was winter I didn’t really like the sound of wet felting in the house, so I went down the needle felting route. What began as making a few dog toys (which are a huge hit, by the way) turned into a passion I was not expecting. Needle felting soon became a way for me to bring the characters I had in my head to life and I only wish I’d discovered this wonderful craft sooner.

I started thinking about how I could make clothing for my characters. I’d tried sewing in the past and I truly do not have the knack for it, so I knew that wasn’t an option. When shopping for wool most places also sell yarn, so I soon began researching how to knit and crochet. I tried knitting first and I plan to do more (if only there was more hours in the day), but crochet really stuck for me. It began with a crochet chicken, then I moved onto little dungarees and hats, and onto full-sized blankets. Crocheting mini clothing doesn’t take very long, so I always have at least one (let’s be real, three or four) blanket or larger project on the go that I can sit and do in the evening.

Outside of crafting I just love being in nature. I’m very fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the country, surrounded by moors, lakes, and hills, so I’m often exploring with my partner and our dog, and taking far too many photos. We also get a lot of wildlife in our garden, mainly birds, insects, hedgehogs, and the occasional squirrel. I have befriended a couple robins and dunnocks who often sit on my office windowsill to see what I’m up to (or rather, if I’m bringing them any mealworms anytime soon) and wait outside the backdoor for me to feed them first thing in the morning, there is also a male blackbird though we share a love-hate relationship (it’s a long story).

Of course, I’m also passionate about tea. I am a tea connoisseur, herbal, black, green, you name it. There is nothing I love more than unwinding after a busy day or week by retreating into my cosy crafting space with a nice cup of tea, so through this Cuppa & Craft was born. A place where I can share my creations and connect with other crafters.

That’s all from me.

Take care and stay crafty (the creative kind)!

The UK got to experience an almost-full eclipse last week and what a wonderful experience it was. Hazel the squirrel thought so too!
